Information about the Prize

The Prize has been established to promote the knowledge about the friendship between Father Marian Zelazek and Bitarchha Madhusudhana Mahapatra .

We start our collection on January 1, 2006 and we plan to close it after raising whole funds. Our aim is to collect the amount of about 4.5 million Polish zlotys, the equivalence of The Nobel Peace Prize.

The week after the collection is closed the amount collected will be transferred in two equal halves to the accounts given by Father Marian Zelazek and Bitarchha Madhusudhana Mahapatra.

Information about the Laureates

Our knowledge about the Laureates is asymmetrical. It comes from the fact that our relations with Father Marian Zelazek are rather natural and our contacts are easy. This is not the case with our relations with Bitarchha Madhusudhana Mahapatra. This asymmetry is also caused by completely different lifestyles of both priests. Because of the very nature of Christianity and his social work Father Marian lives his life open to the surrounding world. On the other hand, Bitarchha Madhusudhan Mahapatran, being the Hindu temple priest, is not active in the social field. That is why information about him is scarce; we were not able to find anything about him on the www pages. Besides, Hindu religion is much inwardly oriented. We advise you to visit our pages with a short CV of Father Marian: >>Father Marian CV or with the book “On the Pathways of Mercy”: >>On the Pathways of Mercy

Gallery

The photographies came from personal collections of the Prize Committee, Father Marian's friends and from Internet galleries giving information about Puri and Lord Jagannath's Temple. more>>

The Laureates, about each other

Bitarchha Madhusudhana Mahapatra expressed his opinions on father Marian in his interview given to the UCAN agency >>see UCAN. For his part, Father Marian recalls the day in which Bitarchha brought his granddaughter to the integration school "Beatrix", which best testifies to the openness of the Hindu priest. Children from healthy families and from those affected by leprosy learn in this school how to cooperate and live together. Fr. Zelazek also points to Bitarchha's visit at the Catholic mission in Puri during the 50 th anniversary of Father's priesthood. Bitarchha delivered his laudatory speech in honour of a Catholic priest in public, which was an unprecedented case. The moment their meeting is shown in the pictures posted on our home page.
